Amazon and POST switch on next-day locker delivery across Luxembourg
From Prime Day on 23 June, Amazon orders can reach a POST PackUp locker the next morning — a speed upgrade for shoppers and a strategic last-mile win for the state operator.

Amazon shoppers in Luxembourg will, for the first time, be able to order in the evening and collect the next morning from a self-service locker around the corner. The U.S. retailer and the state-owned national operator POST Luxembourg are switching on next-day delivery to POST's PackUp locker network, a service that debuts with Amazon's Prime Day sales event and lands squarely on the country's National Day.
Prime Day 2026 runs from 23 to 26 June, dates confirmed both by Amazon and by U.S. broadcaster NBC News. Under the new arrangement, Prime members who shop eligible items on amazon.de can choose a PackUp locker at checkout and have the parcel waiting for them the following morning. The launch coincides with Grand Duke's Day on 23 June, the Grand Duchy's national holiday.
What is launching, and when
The headline change is speed, not the lockers themselves. POST's PackUp network already blankets the country; what is new is that Amazon is now feeding it on a next-day basis. According to Amazon, the network now counts 184 PackUp stations across the Grand Duchy, reaching rural communities "from Frisange to Troisvierges," with more than 90% accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The service builds on a network first opened to Amazon customers on 13 November 2023, when more than 170 POST pick-up points — automated PackUp lockers plus staffed counters — became selectable at checkout on amazon.de, as reported at the time by Amazon, the logistics outlet trans.info and Luxembourg's Chronicle.lu. The collection rules are unchanged: a parcel sits in the locker for seven days, then moves to a post office for another seven, before being returned to Amazon if still uncollected.

From cross-border hubs to a local last mile
For years, Luxembourg consumers have shopped on the German storefront amazon.de, with orders largely fulfilled from cross-border hubs in Germany and France. The next-day-to-locker option compresses that experience to local, same-region speed, routing the final leg through a Luxembourg operator rather than a foreign depot.
POST has been Amazon's primary delivery partner in the country since 2017, carrying many orders on an electric fleet. The Grand Duchy is fertile ground for the model: in earlier analysis, Parcel and Postal Technology International put Luxembourg's locker density at roughly 16 PackUp stations per 100,000 inhabitants — Europe's highest, against about 1.8 in Belgium and 0.9 in France — and reported that around a quarter of POST's parcels were already moving through PackUp stations. The same analysis noted that the country's e-commerce growth has been driven heavily by cross-border volume, precisely the flow this tie-up is built to capture.
We are proud that our PackUp locker network counting 184 stations across the Grand Duchy, plays such a central role in delivering for Amazon Prime members in Luxembourg.
That assessment came from Mario Treinen, Director Post Courier at POST Luxembourg and Managing Director of INFLOW. Mariangela Marseglia, Vice President of Amazon European Stores, called the event "a milestone for our customers in Luxembourg."
A strategic win for POST — and pressure on local retail
For POST, the upgrade deepens a relationship with one of its largest business customers and cements its role in the last mile at a moment when postal operators across Europe are leaning on parcels to offset declining letter mail. When the lockers first opened to Amazon in 2023, Treinen framed the value plainly, saying the deal meant POST's "alternative delivery options, in particular our PackUp network, will now be available at a click to many citizens," and noting that "Amazon is one of POST's largest business customers."
The flip side is sharper competition for domestic retailers. Faster, free collection lowers the friction of buying online and narrows one of physical stores' last advantages — immediacy. With Amazon's European stores headquarters based in Luxembourg since 2003, employing more than 4,250 people locally and having invested some €6.6 billion in the country between 2010 and 2022, the company is both a major local employer and an intensifying competitor on Main Street.
For consumers, the calculus is simpler still: a parcel that once took days from a foreign warehouse can now arrive overnight at a locker minutes from home. Whether that convenience ultimately strengthens Luxembourg's own logistics champion or hastens the shift of retail spending online is the question the Grand Duchy's shopkeepers will be watching closely.
