France inducts historian and Resistance fighter Marc Bloch into the Panthéon
France inducted Marc Bloch — medieval historian, decorated soldier and Resistance fighter executed in 1944 — into the Panthéon on 23 June 2026, in a ceremony presided over by President Emmanuel Macron that framed the Jewish scholar's life as a defence of Enlightenment values and anti-fascist resistance.
